Nikola Tesla, the brilliant scientist and father of alternating current (AC), was born during a massive lightning storm in Smiljan, Serbia in 1856. The midwife believed it was a bad omen, but Tesla’s mother disagreed, allegedly saying that her son would be a child of light. How apt!
