Sir Walter Raleigh may have been a revered English adventurer and writer of the Elizabethan age, but that didn’t stop him from having his head removed in 1918 for conspiring against King James. His head was then embalmed and presented to his poor widow who, reportedly, kept the head in her bag for 29 years! Love knows no bounds!
