Interesting Fact

Have you ever really considered what life would be like without a refrigerator? The U.S. Department of Energy reports that 99% of American homes have at least one refrigerator. Besides helping perishable foods last much longer (and in a state that won’t seriously harm your body if consumed) a fridge also works to help regulate room temperatures.

Interesting Fact

GPS hasn’t always been open to the public, in fact, the public at large could only connect to these satellites in 1983 following a rather disturbing incident. In 1983, Korean Airlines Flight 007 entered prohibited Soviet airspace and was unfortunately shot down by the Soviet Union, resulting in the deaths of the 269 people on board. As a result of this incident, Ronald Reagan decided to provide the public with access to the US military satellite navigation system known as DNSS.

Interesting Fact

To make things even more complicated, US astronauts must learn Russian as part of their training and be able to run the ships using a Russian-language training manual if needed.
